Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics(BLS) US adds 132K jobs in May. Unemployment rate down to a record 4.3%. The U.S. Labor Department reported that in May 132,000 jobs were added. The unemployment rate came down from 4.4% to 4.3%. The annual increase in wages in May was at healthy 2.5% (was 2.5% in April as well). Typically when the demand for workers increase, wages rise, which is the case here. In 2016 US witnessed that supply of available workers started to dwindle which in turn made employers to pay more to attract the right workers. This trend seems to continue in 2017 which is a good sign for the economy and workers! |
